Senior's 50+ Doubles competition rules

All participants MUST be aged 50 years and over on the day of the competition, i.e. 13 July 2025.

Normal badminton doubles game rule will apply to all games.

You will be assigned a playing partner through a random draw which will take place on Sunday 6th July. If there are not even number of entrants, you may not get a playing partner, in which case you may not be able to participate in the competition. In such instance, you will not be charged an entry fee.

Pairing can be two men, two women, or mixed team of one man and one woman. Please note regardless of composition of teams, the competition will be run gender neutral. For example, you can get situations such as men's pair playing against a mixed pair, or women's pair.

Round 1 will comprise of teams playing one match best of 1 game against other teams in the same group. The team with the highest wins (or in event of a tie, the head-to-head results and/or points differences will be considered to determine places) will be the group winners, and progress to the Quarter finals.

The knock-out stage include Quarters, Semis, Third place, Play-off and Doubles Grand Final all of which will be best of 3 games.

Round 1 games will be to 21 (no setting); and all knock-out stage games will be 21 (with setting).

Please ONLY enter doubles competition if you can play on the dates above. If you or your partner (once assigned) are not able to play on the dates required, please inform us ASAP so that we can re-assign playing partners (if possible). If not possible, you will forfeit your match and not progress any further in the competition.

There are up to 40 places in the doubles competition available. Therefore, we recommend early registration.

If there is more interest than places, we may hold a preliminary qualification round to determine places in the competition. The competition will only proceed if there are a minimum of 10 teams (i.e. 20 players).

A non-refundable competition entry fee of £12.50 per player will apply, and will be charged before the date of the competition.

All participants must be active regular members of our Club.
